Kyle's Story

Kyle Fest is the Celebration of Kyle Franzone's 29th Birthday. Kyle Franzone was born on August 10, 1989. At the time of his birth Kyle's father Patrick was a full time Marine and our families were thrilled with the arrival of their first grandchild! However as the months went on we soon began to realize that Kyle was not progressing as a "normal" baby would.

At 3 months old Kyle was diagnosed with Microcephaly and we were told that he would never walk or talk. At 5 months old Kyle began to receive physical and occupational therapy. He was enrolled in school on a full time basis at United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) at the age of 18 months. During the next 10 years Kyle received numerous surgeries to help correct issues with his legs and his severe scoliosis.

On May 5th 2009 Kyle underwent yet another surgery to correct his spine. This time he was not able to recover. On May 20th Kyle passed away due to complications from the surgery. Kyle's life was short and filled with obstacles however he was surrounded by family and friends that loved him unconditionally.

God saw he was getting tired
and a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around him and whispered come to me.

With tearful eyes we watched and saw him pass away
Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating
hard working lungs at rest
God broke our hearts
to prove he only takes the best.

TOYS FOR TOTS / TOYS FOR FREEPORT TOTS

Patrick is a former Marine and has been a Freeport Police Officer for 27 years. For the last 25 years he and other members of the Freeport PBA have donated their time to help many families in the Freeport Community during the Holiday Season. All of the 2017 proceeds from KYLE FEST helped Toys For Freeport Tots purchase over $20,000 in new toys for needy families during the holiday season. Additionally, we were fortunate enough to purchase new musical instruments for the Freeport Schools Music Dept. Toys For Freeport Tots also made a medical purchase of hearing aids for a young Freeport student who had no insurance.

Local businesses in the Freeport Community donated food baskets and many others have helped with their time. Last December, The Marine Corps Toys for Tots and the Freeport PBA's Toys for Freeport Tots Programs also donated over $15,000 worth of Handicapped toys to Kyle's school at U.C.P.
